Weekly Wondering 12/7/2020

This week, I've had a lot on my mind.

One thing in particular though that I've been thinking about for a while, is the treatment of Uyghurs in China- and ESPECIALLY the major corporations that refuse to condemn their treatment.

Did you know that Apple has actually been lobbying AGAINST a law that requires U.S. companies to guarantee they don't use forced labor (slavery) in their production?

This brings me to question the validity of your average vegan, or activist, or whoever- if you have an iPhone in your hand and continue to purchase from them moving forward, I would argue that your arguments for conscious consumption and social justice are null and void. Apple is refusing to condemn slavery, and you're funding that.

I have never had an iPhone, and doubt I ever will. Adam has already decided that he won't be buying another iPhone if Apple doesn't change their stance on this. What do you think you'll do?
